Running from Pasadena to San Pedro, the 110 is rarely as uncongested as it is in this 1969 view. In the decades since, population has increased dramatically and more freeways have sprung up. Freeways that include the “Century Freeway,” which was completed in 1993.

Peaks of downtown Los Angeles’ skyscrapers are framed by the construction of the I-105 freeway meeting the 110. Known as the “Century Freeway,” the 105 was part of the Caltrans 1960s master plan for the freeways in California. However, construction didn’t begin until the 1980s and was not completed until 1993.
